The Principle of Tithing
Returning, Not Giving
The tithe is holy. It belongs to God. From the very beginning of Scripture, we see this principle established—Abraham tithed to Melchizedek before the Law was even given (Genesis 14:18-20). Tithing isn’t a man-made rule—it’s a divine principle of stewardship, gratitude, and faith.
We don’t tithe because we are forced to—we tithe because we recognize that everything we have comes from God. It’s an act of honoring Him by returning the first 10% of our increase. That first portion is set apart. It’s sacred. When we honor God with the first, He blesses the rest.
Key Scriptures:
- “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” — Malachi 3:10 (KJV) - “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s: it is holy unto the LORD.” — Leviticus 27:30 (KJV)
Why it matters:
Tithing declares that God—not our job, not our paycheck—is our source. It breaks greed, develops trust, and sets the foundation for godly financial management.
Offerings: Above and Beyond
Sowing with Intentionality and Expectation
Offerings are what we give in addition to the tithe. They reflect a deeper level of generosity and maturity in our walk with God. Offerings flow out of love and gratitude, not obligation. They are a way to express, “God, I don’t just want to obey You—I want to bless You.”
From building God’s house to helping others in need, offerings are seed that produce Kingdom harvests. When given cheerfully and in faith, offerings open up realms of abundance and spiritual breakthrough.
Key Scriptures:
- 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 — “He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly… for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
- Luke 6:38 — “Give, and it shall be given unto you…”
- Exodus 35:5 — “Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart…”
The Heart Behind Giving
Trust, Worship, and Surrender
God is more interested in our hearts than in the amount we give. Giving is not a transaction—it’s an act of worship. It’s how we say, “God, You have my heart, not just my bank account.”
When we give with the right heart, we experience freedom. We no longer fear lack because we’ve placed our trust in the One who owns it all. Giving shifts our focus from earthly wealth to eternal treasure.
Key Scriptures:
- Matthew 6:21 — “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
- Mark 12:41-44 — The widow’s offering showed that value is not in the amount, but in the heart.
- Deuteronomy 15:10 — “Thou shalt surely give… and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works.”
Why it matters:
Generosity with the right heart becomes a form of spiritual warfare. It breaks the spirit of mammon, cultivates gratitude, and keeps us anchored in the truth that God is our Provider.
Giving as Spiritual Warfare
Breaking Lack and Declaring Victory
Many believers don’t realize that giving is a powerful spiritual weapon. It confronts the spirit of fear and poverty head-on. Every time you sow, you declare to the enemy: “I will not be ruled by lack. I am in covenant with Jehovah Jireh.”
Tithing and offerings shift spiritual atmospheres. They invite the supernatural into your finances and release Kingdom favor over your home, your job, and your future.
Key Scriptures:
- Philippians 4:19 — “But my God shall supply all your need…”
- Psalm 112:5 — “A good man sheweth favor, and lendeth… he shall not be moved.”
- Isaiah 32:8 — “The generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand.”
Why it matters:
Your giving can break cycles of lack, unlock family breakthroughs, and fund Kingdom assignments. Don’t just give—give in faith, give with fire, and give as warfare.

Father,
Thank You for the beauty and strength You’ve placed within me.
I embrace my identity as Your daughter—full of purpose, grace, and holy fire.
Teach me to lead with love, to build with wisdom, and to live with power.
I reject every lie that says femininity is weakness.
I rise as the woman You’ve called me to be—in faith, in freedom, and in bold femininity.
